Plaid in every color and shape was on the runways for Fall/Winter 2013 and is going to be in the closet of every fashionista too. How can we transform the trend to match our personal aesthetic? I mean, we all have a plaid shirt and we know how to wear it. Or we may also have a Scottish tartan kilt and go for a grunge look like those on Saint Laurent's catwalk. But this time we also have examples like those on Celine's show that suggest to match different plaid patterns and colors in one look. How do we pull that off without making it look too costumy?
If you have the impeccable style of Christine Centenera I say go for it. Personally I love it. I only recommend you mix different types of plaid (be very very careful) or else the result will be too matchy-matchy.
If you want to play it safe, try it in smaller doses and you won't fail. You could chose one oversized plaid coat, like those of Stella McCartney and make every simple outfit stand out. You could also try a plaid dress which goes with pretty much everything. Try it with pumps, ankle boots or even over the knee boots. Keep the colors of your accessories in the same color pallette of your dress and use a light make up. Done!
